In The Studio

February 2026

I feel like I'm doing a lot of updating and admin, and not much art, in the last couple of weeks! We're preparing for our upcoming Textiles in Oxford exhibition in Wantage in March, where I'll have several pieces on display. The exhibition is showcasing our '6x6' art, where we've all submitted pieces made on a 6x6 canvas to fit various themes: Into The Woods, Black and White Plus One, and Spooling Around. It's fascinating to see how everyone interprets each theme differently, and there's so much beautiful textile art to display!

I've also been working on the 2027 events programme for Textiles In Oxford, finding more inspiring artists for talks and workshops (the excellent 2026 programme is already online). Our talks and workshops are brilliant, and our members are really welcoming and come from all over Oxfordshire and beyond, so do check it out if you're interested in textile art and mixed media.

This year I'm taking part in Henley Arts Trail for the first time, which runs concurrently to Oxfordshire Artweeks in the first weekend of May, which is exciting!

September 2025

Our Fizz and View pop-up exhibition at Busby K Gallery was a lot of fun, seeing what the other artists in the Hive Collective had made over the summer, and welcoming visitors.

My art was also featured in Ox Magazine this month! I wasn't able to get hold of a printed copy, let me know if you happen to have one around!

May 2025

Oxfordshire Artweeks! The week was exhausting but brilliant, thank you to everyone who came to my exhibition! It was lovely to meet so many people who were so engaged in my art, and see so many pieces go off to their new homes!

April 2025

Our March exhibition was a success - very tiring but a lot of fun. The space looked amazing with everything on display, and I'm hoping to find some good photos of the exhibition to share, without me excitedly bouncing around in them!

I'm currently getting things mounted and framed ready for my 10th-18th May exhibition. Still lots to do! I've been making a series of birds which I love, so I'm excited for them to be on display together.

January 2025

There's a lot going on at the moment, making new work to display at an exhibition in March 2025.

For anyone who enjoys free motion embroidery, you'll know that the back of a piece of work is just as lovely to see as the front, as shown below! I love how bold the stitching is against the texture of the material. The 'right side' is heavily printed using several screen printing techniques, which I've stitched over.

Meanwhile, my mind is full of butterflies in preparation for the exhibition, like these ones, free motion stitched onto a gorgeous green-gold silk - the camera doesn't do the colour any justice!
