About

Textile art, drawing and mixed media, inspired by nature
I'm inspired by the natural world - flowers, insects, animals, and bright sunset colours, combining patterns in fun and interesting ways. The intention behind my art is to convey how beautiful and complex the seemingly simple things in life are, when we take time to slow down and notice them.
I work in many mediums, particularly pencil drawing, watercolour and textiles. When working in pencil and watercolour, I like to be very meticulous, capturing tiny details and textures. Whereas, in my textile and mixed media art, I love to use colours, patterns and embellishments that grab my attention.
I try to work in an environmentally friendly way, using repurposed fabric and embellishments, and recycled thread where possible. I grow pollinator flowers in my garden, to attract the bees and butterflies which often feature in my work. I’m particularly fascinated by bugs and animals, observing how different each individual creature is. A big part of my process involves watching how they interact with their environment, and making many sketches out in the sunshine, to work from later in my studio.
I sell my work at exhibitions, and have pieces in private collections in the UK and internationally. For details about my upcoming exhibitions, please see this page.
